Courage

Fear calls us to the altar of courage

Knowing not what our acts will duly presage

Fledgling

The fledgling, on its maiden flight,

Falls victim to the hawk's delight

Burden

The burden placed on our backs at birth

Decides our fate in search of worth

Forgiveness

Forgiveness comes to each at night,

When he sees his part as a ray of light

Love Bond

In the world of spirit we are together bound

It is in that realm that love is found

Cain & Abel

Not knowing what each holds inside,

We all engage in fratricide.

Dancing

United in motion,

Where worries cease,

Thought is quelled

And the heart finds peace

Dashed

The captain steered the ship in vain,

For the rocks have rent the hull again

Cliffs

The cliffs over which we fall in pain

Cause losses that we can ne’er regain

But fear of that untimely fall

Leads to the greatest loss of all

Waves

For fear of waves that we foresee

Caring and affection are lost at sea

Caress

The caress that touches

What is deep inside

Is, of all, most feared

And so we hide

Voice

The loud clear voice

Of the vibrating string

Is a gift of the resonance

Which makes it sing

Communication

Who knows its wiles?

I know not whence

This art that beguiles

And makes no sense!

Apprentice or master?

How to tell?

Their hearts beat faster

As I rebel

The Shell

My shell is such a cozy place

I never have to show my face

But it gets lonely deep inside

Perhaps it’s best to never hide

Trust

Trust is a wall on which we lean

When all else seems so cruel and mean;

But if it fail when out we reach—

A painful tumble from its breach!

The Reward

Like hot brands into flesh that doth burn:

The hard lessons we painfully learn.

For the pleasures of life do we yearn,

Yet we treasure the medals we earn.
